About Me

I would like to welcome you and your child to the 2018-2019 school year at Oakwood School! My name is Lindsey March, and I will be your child’s first grade teacher. I am very excited to begin what I know will be a fantastic year. I am especially looking forward to getting to know both you and your child, as I believe success in the classroom is a result of teamwork between the teacher, student, and parents.

I grew up in Naperville and attended District 203 schools from kindergarten through grade 12. From Fall 2009 to Spring 2013, I attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL and majored in Elementary Education with endorsements in Language Arts and Social Studies. After graduating, I spent a year working as a Title I Interventionist for grades K-5 in Dunlap, IL, which is a suburb of Peoria. During the 2014-2015 school year, I was a fourth grade teacher in another suburb of Peoria known as Germantown Hills. I joined the first grade team here at Oakwood in Fall 2015, and I am thrilled to begin my fourth year teaching first grade this year! As for other exciting news, I also recently obtained my Master’s Degree in the Reading Specialist program at Olivet Nazarene University.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, baking, traveling, and being outside. My dog named Peanut, a Silky Poo, also brings me a lot of joy. I love playing with her, taking her for walks, and snuggling with her.J Furthermore, I love musicals! My favorites are The Sound of Music, Mamma Mia!, The Greatest Showman, and Wicked. Additional facts about me are that my favorite color is lime green, I enjoy going to the beach, and I LOVE giraffes.

Since communication between home and school is an essential part of this school year, I would like to provide you with a couple of ways to contact me. You may email me at [email protected] or call me at 630-257-2286 extension 1321. I also welcome notes from home if you should ever need to send one in with your child. Please do not ever hesitate to contact me!

Once again, I am eager to start the school year! We are going to have a wonderful year full of learning, teamwork, personal and academic growth, and most of all…FUN!!!

Sincerely,
Miss March
