We are proud to offer ART CLUB to 1st and 2nd graders this Fall! During ART CLUB we will be using mixed media to work on 2D and 3D art once a week. Please note if there are two sessions each week they will be the same lesson. Please only sign up once a week. Each session will have 20 students. Let’s be creative!

Early Act is a club for first and second graders at Oakwood that is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lemont-Homer Glen. Students volunteer their time and talents for worthwhile causes that impact individuals at the school, community, and worldwide levels. Students are encouraged to be helpful and caring citizens through character building activities and leadership opportunities.
The club meets for an hour after school twice a month (1st and 3rd Friday of every Month) from 3:30-4:30..
If interested in joining, students should complete the paper application that will be distributed in September.
Due to size constraints, only two students from a classroom will be accepted.
There is no registration fee for this club.

Students will participate in a variety of health and fitness games to help teach important health and wellness concepts. All activities will have a fun twist to teach students differnt ways to improve their health. Club will meet in the gym at Oakwood after school for one hour.
Oakwood is excited to host our first Kinder Creative Play Club! The creative play club will focus on the eight key executive functions: Impulse Control, Emotional Control, Flexible Thinking, Working Memory, Self-Monitoring, Planning and Prioritizing, Task Initation, and Organization. The activities include dress-up and imaginative role-playing. Students will also play games to build their cooperative skills such as taking turns, listening to one another, winning vs. losing, etc. Students will also have additional time in the Creating Lab. The Gardening Club will meet in the fall and spring on Mondays after school. The club sponsors will work out calendar details with parents.
The Garden club will meet for an hour after school on Mondays from 3:30-4:30. The purpose of the garden club is to expose the students to the process of gardening from planting the seeds to harvesting the vegetables. Students will be working with soil and gardening tools and planting in the garden beds at River Valley.

Students will meet after school on Mondays at River Valley.
Students will build skills in a variety of seasonal activities, including, but not limited to soccer, football, basketball and baseball.
Sign up for the spring session of intramurals will be available by the second week of December.
There is a $50 fee for this class. Payment must be received by the first day of club. Failure to provide payment or a financial waiver request by the first day of club will result in my child automatically being removed from the club roster.
After registration, the $50 fee will be posted on Skyward. The fee can be paid using the Skyward account or parents may also send a check made out to School District 113A for the full amount.

Bowling club is for both the beginner bowler and those with more experience. Practice will take place on most Tuesdays and Thursdays after school at Strike and Spare located at 811 Northern Drive, Lockport. Students will be bussed to the bowling center but must be picked up by family by 5:30 p.m. Strike and Spare will provide shoes and use of a bowling ball. Practices will start in early February.
Bowlers must qualify in order to participate in tournaments, regionals, sectionals and state series.

The purpost of the conservation club is to build an understanding of the importance of recycling at school and at home. Students will be responsible for recycling paper at Old Quarry through weekly collections from classrooms and offices. Drama club during the 20-21 school year may focus on monologs, small group productions, public speaking, scriptwriting, or any areas that help to support a student's ability to perform in a drama production at a later time. No tryout is required for participation.
Our first meeting is on March 16. The drama club will meet every Tuesday and every other Thursday from 2:30-3:45 pm. Club sponsors will provide a full schedule once the club begins.

Drama Club puts on a play production in the springtime of the school year.
Auditions are held in early December, and performances are in mid-March.
Rehearsals are normally on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Longer and more frequent rehearsals occur closer to the performance dates.

Learn how to perfom in the jazz style and develp skills to improvise. This group performs traditional big band music as well as modern jazz compositions.

For the 20-21 school year Journalisim meets on Tuesdays & Thursday after school until 3:45. March 16, 2021 is the first meeting and the last meeting is May 5, 2021.
Members of Old Quarry’s Journalism Club will learn about and create different types of news articles such as editorial pieces, feature stories and columns. Students will also learn about photojournalism, review how-to and promotional articles and we’d love to begin podcasting! We will learn about and adhere to the rules of responsible journalism while representing OQMS.

For the 20-21 school year Makers Space meets on Tuesdays after school until 4:30 pm. March 16, 2021 is the first meeting and the last day will be on May 11, 2021.
This club is designed for the student in 6th through 8th grade. Students will be able to “tinker” with different tools to create STEAM projects. Activities include Coding, Robotics, Electronics, Chemistry, and Building and 3D Projects.
Students are encouraged to explore, research, collect data, and collaborate on projects of their choosing.

20-21 Mathletes is a club designed to build problem-solving skills, encourage teamwork, and have fun.
Students meet weekly to work through mathematical problems and puzzles.
Participants will be chosen through a series of practice competitions held during the meetings.
Mathletes will meet on Thursday's from 2:30-4:15. The first session is March 18, 2021.

Old Quarry students have participated in PEEPs for the past two years during the school day. It has become so popular and successful that we have created PEEPs After Hours Club!
PEEPs (Peers Educating Exceptional People) After Hours Club is a club to build friendships between students with disabilities and typically developing peers. PEEPs will meet twice a month from 2:30-3:45 pm throughout the school year. Students will participate in various activities including sports, art, music, technology, and culinary arts while fostering friendships and building social skills. 19-20 - 8th grade girls are trying out for placement on the OQ Girls Varsity Volleyball team. 6th & 7th grade girls are trying out for placement on either Varsity or Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball team. Girls who make the JV team could be moved up a level if a need arises. Students are selected on their volleyball skills demonstrated during the tryout.
Tryouts for all 8th-grade girls and any 7th graders who played on the OQ volleyball team last season will take place on January 27 & 28, 2020. All 6th-graders and 7th-graders who would be new to the team tryout on January 29 & 30, 2020. Final callbacks (posted on the volleyball website) will take place on January 31, 2020. All tryouts and callbacks will be from 2:30-4:00 pm.
Practice are daily after school from 2:30-4:00 or 4:00-5:30 depending on the schedule with the season ending mid to late October. They begin aftter tryouts are complete.
