Parents Learn More About Their Children as Learners

Mrs. Burkhardt works with parents to understand MAP scores

On March 2nd, Maggi Burkhardt, assistant principal at River Valley School presented to parents throughout the district about their children’s MAP scores. Through an in depth presentation about parent reports, Mrs. Burkhardt explained how to read the reports parents receive, what information drives instruction and how we compare to our district and the nation. Parents also learned that staff use the scores to measure growth and understanding of standards and skills and many teachers have students set goals based on areas of strengths and weaknesses in the report they receive. After the presentation, Mrs. Burkhardt and Mrs. Lynch, the principal of River Valley School, stayed to review reports, in detail, with each parent that wanted personalized information about their child(ren).
