Message from the Principal
“Kindness is contagious. Let’s spread it like confetti!”
Welcome to Oakwood School - Home of the Bears! I am ecstatic to join the wonderful and close-knit Oakwood Family as your new principal! Our school motto will be “Always be Kind” and will set a positive tone for all who enter our building. It’s going to be an amazing year!
My main hope and goal for the 2022-23 school year is to build genuine relationships with as many people as I can. I invite all of you to reach out and set up a time for us to sit down and meet informally so that I can listen to you, gather input, and consider any suggestions you may have. I truly value and appreciate feedback as it’s the only way we can collectively improve. Mr. Talaga and I plan on offering opportunities for us to exchange ideas and work collaboratively to make Oakwood even greater than it already is. We hope you will join us!
Making sure that students are at the center of every thought, conversation, and decision is at the core of my philosophy. All students can and will learn. Every child who enters the doors of our school will be loved and cared for. They will feel welcome and supported. In order to excel academically, a student must know that we believe he or she can succeed. This collective efficacy directly affects student achievement. Therefore, as the instructional leader of Oakwood, I will be working hand in hand with our staff to develop them as strong leaders of the classroom and the school as they are in direct line with your children on a daily basis. You will love our awesome and caring staff!
My passion for making a positive difference in the field of education is something that has been a driving force of mine since I was 4 years old. That same passion is unwavering and exists to this day. Being a college adjunct professor, a high school math teacher, a middle school math specialist and coach, and an elementary school assistant principal has provided many experiences across all grade levels to prepare me for this opportunity to serve as Oakwood’s principal. It is with great honor and humility that I will give my whole heart and dedication to our beloved school.
To our Oakwood Bears, I cannot wait to meet you! We are going to have a lot of fun with our learning, get to know each other well, engage in high-interest activities, and set a strong foundation for you to become well-rounded individuals and good problem solvers. It will be very exciting to watch you learn and grow throughout the year!
I look forward to working together as a team with the students, staff, families, and community members of Oakwood School and the Lemont-Bromberek School District!
Go Bears!
Mrs. Dimitra Georganas
