Board of Education Approves Ballot Language for November Referendum

Dear SD113A Families, Staff, and Community,

I wanted to connect with you directly to share an important update regarding the future of Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A.

Over the past two years, our district has engaged in a thoughtful and comprehensive planning process to plan responsibly for the future. Through our strategic planning work, facility assessments, and multiple enrollment studies, we have worked to better understand the challenges created by continued enrollment growth and to establish priorities for our schools.

As a result of all of these efforts, I have made a recommendation to the Board of Education to place a limiting rate referendum question on the November 3, 2026 ballot for voter consideration. The Board unanimously approved that recommendation this evening, and the question will now be presented to our community in November.

To reduce and maintain class sizes, academic programs, transportation, and student support services, District 113A is placing a 36-cent limiting rate referendum on the November 2026 ballot. If approved, the limiting rate increase would generate an estimated $6,000,000 annually which would allow the District to construct additions at all four SD113A schools and hire staff to maintain and reduce classes.

Between now and Election Day, SD113A will share information about the referendum with our community. As a public school district, we are prohibited by law from advocating for or against the referendum. Our responsibility is to provide factual information regarding the District’s needs, the proposed plan, timeline, costs, estimated impact on homeowners, and voting information.

Ultimately, this is a community decision.

We have created a Planning for the Future of SD113A webpage where residents can learn more about the proposal, community meetings, enrollment and facility data, the estimated financial impact, and find answers to frequently asked questions. We will continue to update this resource throughout the months ahead so every voter has access to the information needed to make an informed decision on November 3.
