District 113A Superintendent Dr. Courtney Orzel Tabbed to Prestigious National Organization

Lemont-Bromberek School District 113A Superintendent Dr. Courtney Orzel has been elected to the prestigious Suburban School Superintendents organization, along with Lemont High School District 210 Superintendent, Dr. Mary Ticknor.

This group is limited to a maximum of 150 active superintendents from some of the nation’s most outstanding suburban school districts. Founded more than 50 years ago, the purpose of the Suburban School Superintendents is to improve the quality of educational opportunities, programs and services for children, staff and parents in their member districts.

This is accomplished by pooling ideas and information from its membership, both through regular meetings and through informal contacts throughout the school year. The Suburban School Superintendents counts among its membership many former School Superintendents Association Presidents and officers, as well as nationally selected superintendents of the year.

Superintendents who are nominated and ultimately elected to the Suburban School Superintendents organization are held in high regard as school district leaders, both regionally and nationally.

Orzel is currently in her 6th year serving as the SD113A Superintendent. During her tenure, the district has improved its financial profile and bond rating, returned programs, and increased opportunities for students. In 2019, Orzel was honored with national recognition from the American Association of School Administrators as 1 of 3 superintendent finalists for the Women in Leadership Award.
