Meet the Principals

Welcome to Oakwood School! As some of you may know, this is my sixth year in the district, and I feel very fortunate to work with such wonderful staff members and exceptional students. Prior to coming to District 113A, I was principal of Hadley Middle School in Homer Glen for two years and principal of Robinson School, a K-5 building in Lyons, for three years. I have been in the educational arena for over 24 years now, and I have to say that each day is still new, exciting, and rewarding.
On a personal note, I have three children. My youngest child currently attends a District 11A school. My two older children both attended district schools and are now in high school and college. I am an advocate of the schools and truly believe in giving back to the community. My hobbies include reading, traveling, and spending time with my family.
Joanne Policht is the assistant principal at Oakwood School. She has over twenty years of experience in Medinah School District. She began as a special education teacher, taught third grade, and was a Reading Specialist. While in Medinah, she also had a wide range of administrative experiences including principal of Medinah Intermediate School for two years prior to becoming a mom, and serving as principal of Medinah Primary School after the birth of her daughter. Most recently, she has been the part-time assistant principal to both Medinah Primary and Medinah Intermediate Schools. She is delighted to be working full- time at Oakwood with young children and thankful and honored to be part of the Oakwood Community.
