KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
BEGINS THURSDAY, APRIL 10, 2008
PLEASE NOTE: New Registration Procedures are in Effect This Year
The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Kindergarten registration process will begin on April 10th. Registration packets will be available and can be picked up at Oakwood School, 1130 Kim Place, Lemont from 9:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. April 10th- May 1st. Parents/guardians need to enter Oakwood School through the main set of doors (#20) on the east side of the building.
Students entering Kindergarten for the 2008-2009 school year must be 5 years of age by September 1, 2008. NO EXCEPTIONS ARE CONSIDERED.
REGISTRATION
In order to register a child for District 113A’s Kindergarten, parents/guardians will need to present the following documentation and proof of residency:
• an ORIGINAL county birth certificate (hospital certificates do not meet this requirement) to verify the child’s age. Birth certificates can be ordered through a currency exchange facility or county office.
• home closing documents, the most recent real estate tax bill, or a signed lease
(If you do not have any of these documents, but you are permanently residing with a current resident of SD113A, please obtain the necessary proof of residency forms from Oakwood School)
• two of the following:
a current drivers license, state picture ID card, utility bill, voter registration card and/or vehicle registration
PLEASE NOTE THE NEW PROCEDURES:
• Beginning April 10th and continuing through May 1st: Kindergarten registration packets will be available for pick up in the Oakwood School Office.
• Registration will take place by appointment only during the week of May 5th.
• Contact Joyce Brimer at (630)257-2286, extension 1110 to schedule an appointment. Please bring your completed packet along with required original documents to your registration appointment.
A.M. /P.M. Determination
NEW:
• Morning and afternoon placement will primarily be determined by bus route. Placement will no longer be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.
• Parents will be notified of A.M. / P.M. determination by June 30, 2008.
• Once A.M. and P.M. sessions are determined, parents may choose to enter the “choice” lottery for an A.M. /P.M. preference.
A.M. /P.M. Choice Lottery
• NEW: Lottery for “Choice Slots”
• Parents may request a morning or afternoon session for their child; however, they must provide their child’s transportation to and from school.
• July 1-15th: Accept lottery requests
• Once the lottery is complete and slots are filled, a waiting list will be constructed.
• All “choice” slots will be filled by August 1st.
• NOTE: In order to participate in the “choice lottery”, transportation must be provided by the parents/guardians.
• 10 slots will be available for the morning session and 10 slots for the afternoon session
Registration will be finalized ONLY when medical records are completed and fees have been paid. Information regarding these items will be shared at Kindergarten Information Night on May 8th. Class, teacher and session assignments will be finalized in the early summer.
