River Valley Rockers Kick Off Reading Program

Last week the River Valley staff sang and danced their way into the hearts of the students to kick-off a school-wide reading program. Pictured right are some of the staff members performing the grand finale!
During the 2007-08 school year the students at River Valley will be reading & celebrating about school. Should your child want to read along with us, I’ve listed the books we will be reading and the weeks we will be reading them below. Although it is not necessary, feel free to purchase the books and send them to school with your children.
Week of October 7th

Week of March 17th
There’s a Boy in the Girl’s Bathroom (read as a class) by Louis Sacher
The Girl Who Hated Books (read by Mrs. Sifling) by Manjusha Pawagi
Mrs. Lynch will also be reading: Substitute Teacher Plans by Doug Johnson and The Recess Queen by Alexis O’Neill during the school year. Big THANKS to Mrs. Pitlik, our choreographer, Mrs. Olipra, our lead singer, Mrs. Hennig for putting the words on a power point for us, the 5th grade team for making posters and to Mrs. Sifling who book-talked each book and brought a level of excitement for what we are about to read this year.
